Aims
Identify, develop and ensure implementation of appropriate tools, mechanisms, systems and methods to support the establishment of institutional arrangements at the CBO level that lead to socially, environmentally and economically sustainable decision-making.
Build capacity and skills of support organisation field staff. This will assist them to enable conservancies to manage their natural resources in a sustainable, effective, efficient and transparent way, and thereby maximise benefits to conservancy members.
Key Activities
Promote coordination of support by government, support organisations and private sector
Promote democratisation of conservancies by developing mechanisms for broad community participation
Develop locally appropriate performance monitoring and evaluation systems
Improve capacity of institutional development and delivery within the CBNRM Programme
Develop training materials and co-facilitate training of trainers process
Develop, test, monitor, evaluate and roll out institutional development approaches, processes, methodologies and systems
Ensure and conduct ongoing mentoring and support to field based support organisation staff
Develop linkages with relevant institutions for effective lobbying
Mainstream HIV/AIDS in CBNRM activities
Act as a forum for discussion and debate on institutional development issues
Act as a forum for learning and exchanging practical, methodological experiences from the field
Promote more cost effective and accountable service delivery and management systems in conservancies
Conduct research on critical conservancy management and development issues identified by conservancies and stakeholders
Collaborate with other government ministries, such as MLRR and MAWF, on issues of common concern
