22nd Sep 2010	CBEND (Combating Bush Encroachment for Namibia's Development) inauguration. Open Day Event (with official programme from 12:00 – 14:00). Place: Farm Pierre (#345), Outjo District. Cost: N$ 10 entrance fee The CBEND Project (Combating Bush Encroachment for Namibia's Development) installed a 250 kW wood gasification power plant and established Namibia's first Independent Power Producer (IPP). The IPP operates under the name of Bush Energy Namibia (Pty) Ltd and is successfully finalising a Power Purchase Agreement with NamPower, an electricity wheeling arrangement with CENORED and an Electricity Generation License from the Electricity Control Board. The European Union's 9th European Development Fund administered through the National Planning Commission's Rural Poverty Reduction Programme financially supported the CBEND Project.
